Free tool for discovering new music
A joyous find indeed
During Christmas a friend told me about a really cool website that any music lover should familiarize themselves with. Its called Pandora Radio which taps into the Music Genome Project.
How it works
You type an artist or song name in and it spits back similar artists via an online radio. We are not talking about dumbed-down linking either but something along the lines of, I type “Psycroptic” and it gives me technical death metal bands back. It seems very smart about knowing what you are looking for. And it also provides an interface for feedback on the selections it chose based on your keywords so it is probably always fine-tuning its search algorithms.
The visual interface is a bit clunky but the idea is great. I am sure future versions of this will entail improving the GUI.
