Ultimate heavy metal band….

Okay, here’s the story. I was listening to Sirius Radio Hard Attack, and the host gave me this idea.

If you could create s “heavy metal super-band” by taking members of other metal bands and placing them in one band (kind of like a fantasy baseball team or whatever), who would be in it and why? So for example, here’s my metal super-band:

Vocals: Randy Blythe(Lamb Of God)
Why?: Well, first off, i absolutely love Lamb Of God. And i believe that randy is a Strong vocalist. He is without a doubt my favorite death metal vocalist and I think he is also and excelent lyricist.

Lead Guitar: Alexi Liaho(Children Of Bodom)
Why?: Well, first off, if i took all of the members of lamb of god and put them in here…well that wouldn’t make much sense, would it? Second, he’s a disgusting guitar player. I love his work. Why didn’t I pick Dimebag? Well, because I’m sure there are thousands of people that would pick him. It’s not original.

Second Lead: Brent Hinds(Mastodon)
Why?: Well, i have always loved to concept of duel guitar, in the style of such bands as Iron Maiden and Dragonforce(though I detest Dragonforce). And Brent Hinds is an excellent guitar player. While being dirty, he can also be very technical. His style of guitar mixed with Alexi’s would be downright brutal.

Bass Guitar: Cliff Burton(Metallica)
Why?: Well, he is one of my favorite bass players. He IS my favorite METAL bass player, but i must say my favorite player is Les Claypool of Primus fame. But that’s besides the point. Cliff is also a profound Lyricist, along with Randy and Alexi. Three great writers in one band leads to some devastating songs.

Drums: Chris Adler(Lamb Of God)
Why?: Definitely my favorite drummer in, not only metal, but music. I’m not trying to say he’s the BEST, but he’s my favorite. His drum work is insane, if you’re into their music or not.

well, there’s my dream band. what about yours?

  1. Vocals: Rob Halford
    Lead Guitar: Randy Rhoads
    Rhythm Guitar: Dave Mustaine
    Bass Guitar: Cliff Burton
    Drums: Dave Lombardo

  2. Vocals: Bruce Dickinson
    Lead: Randy Rhoads
    Rhythm Guitar: Dave Mustaine
    Bass Guitar: Steve Harris
    Drums: Bonham

  3. horrorbiz:
hmmm…halford and rhoads. great choices. I strayed from rhoads because he also seemed like a “Common Choice” to me. And i was never able to really get into Halford’s vocals, though i do recognize his talent as a vocalist.

    Scott:
Dickinson is a great choice for a vocalist, as is Steve Harris for a bass player. Bruce would have been my pick if i wasn’t going for a Death Metal band. He has talent up the ass.

  4. my dream stoner band:

    Josh Homme (kyuss, qotsa): G
    Wata (boris): G
    Dale (melvins): D
Nick Oliveri (dwarfs, kyuss, qotsa): B
and yours truly – sweatloaf: V (…or Lemmy)
    …and Tommy Lee on Keys

  5. Man, I just had a badass idea. It would be so cool to have a concept album w/ Dickinson and Dio on it. Have Dickinson play the role of the protagonist and Dio the role of the antagonist. Heaven & Hell, Good vs Evil. Something like that. Then you could have Steve Harris on bass and Nicko on drums. As for guitarist, you could feature a whole bag of em. The Maiden guitarists, Craig Gouldy, and a bunch more. I think it would be a freakin’ awesome album.

  6. sweatloaf where’s you icon? I miss the lil’ clown

  7. may just be the best idea i’ve ever heard….

  8. wordpress hates my guts. and my clown.

  9. Alright, I’m game– but only if you recognize that part of a good metal band is watching the resulting drama from time to time…

    Vox – Serj Tankian
    Lead – Yngwie
    Rhythm – Hetfield & Mustaine
    Bass – Lemmy
    Drums – Jimmy Chamberlin
Special guest appearance by: Axl Rose

These guys would absolutely drive each other up the frakkin’ wall. They’re all undeniably talented, but the resulting shows would be a complete trainwreck. Don’t act like you wouldn’t buy tickets, either!

  10. i would pay through the nose to see that show….

  11. Vocals: Axl Rose
    Lead Guitarist1: Eddie Van Halen
    Lead Guitarist2: Randy Rhoads
    Rhythm Guitarist: Izzy Stadlin
    Bass: Nikki Sixx
    Drums: Tommy Lee

How about that the istablity of Axl, The Talents of of Eddie and Randy, The song writing ability of Izzy, the out of control Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee

  12. I wish to hell these aging artist would read this and say, “Hey! These lil’ punks actually have a great idea”. It would be the whole Alien Vs. Predator dream come true for all of the metal heads out there.

  13. ya i know, if only these bands knew about the site…..
i still haven’t forgiven you for putting that “Dio Vs. Bruce” CD concept in my head….

  14. Vocals: Dax Riggs (Acid Bath) / John Garcia (Kyuss)
    Lead Guitarist 1: Wata (Boris)
Lead Guitarist 2: Adam Jones (Tool)
Rhytm Guitarist: Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine)
    Bass: Les Claypool (Primus)
    Drums: Coady Willis (Melvins/Big Businnes)

  15. Alright well some of these guys arn’t with us no more, but this would be an amazing super band,
Lead Guitar 1 – Alexi Lahio (Children of Bodom)
Lead Guitar 2 – Dimebag Darrel Abbott (Pantera)
    Lead Guitar 3 – Gus G (Firewind, 2010 Ozzy)
Lead Guitar 4 – Zack Wylde (Black Label Society / Ozzy)

Bass 1 – Cliff Butron (Metallica)
Bass 2 – Steve Harris (Iron Maiden)

Vocals 1 – Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)
Vocals 2 – Johan Hegg (Amon Amarth)
Vocals 3 – Phil Labonte (All That Remains)

    Drums 1 – Dave Lombardo
    Drums 2 – Inferno (Behemoth)

This is a huge band, but if these guys were all still alive and formed a band together, they would have nearly every metal fan into them. They cover almost every genre and are all extremely talented, this is surely my dream band .
